The Story

Would you believe it if I told you that the Daiquiri was invented in…Daiquiri? That’s right – it’s not just a name; it’s a place.

Daquiri is a town on the southeastern tip of Cuba, and its namesake cocktail is a delicious marriage of rum, lime and simple syrup. The story goes that an American mining engineer named Jennings Cox created the Daiquiri while mining in the small town. He created the cocktail having access to only a few items: Bacardi, lime and sugar.

From there the drink seemed to flourish. First making its way to Havana and then eventually the United States.

However the origin, this cocktail has become a staple behind bars across the world. It lives in the perfect intersection of sweet and sour.
